God of War: Chains of Olympus
so, if any of you have been following the series, then you know this already. . .if you dont, you might find it interesting and consider buying the game once it releases in europe (or here if you live in the US). . .
so, gow:chains of olympus shipped yesterday, i got my copy today. . .how is it?. . .exactly what a gow game should be like: awesome, bloody, epic . .but, i'll proceed. . .
the graphics are amazing, considering the psp's capabilities. . .hell, it looks almost as good as gow1. . .execpt in a little screen. . .the environments are big and open, giving plenty of room to slaughter your enemies. . .and the ocasional boss(the first one being, as is the tradition of the series, BIG. ..though not as big as the colossus). . .the combat is as good as in the console versions. . .the only little problem(which is not, if you think about it) is the control scheme. . .fans of the series will have to spend a second or two getting used to new controls since, this being the psp, you dont have the L2, L3, R2 & R3 buttons. . .however, its fairly easy to adjust to after getting taking a swing and killing some enemies. . .newer players may have a harder time using them, though. . .on the up side, the saving times are almost instant. . .a great thing, considering how slow they are in gow 1 & 2. . .
if you have a psp, by all means buy this game. . .you wont regret it, you've got my word( on the other hand, if you dont like gow or games like it, then dont bother). . .and its being called the best psp game up to date. . .unless ff7:cc turns out better. . .which is, honestly, hard to imagine. . .but i dont care cuz i'll get them both (and a shinra umd case!). . .
if you dont like you gow. . .shame on you. . .i mean, even this guy got exited:
*sheds a tear*
kratos's would be proud. . .

I bought God of War II when it was first released and, for whatever reason, I never played more than half an hour of it. I brought it home, ripped off the plastic, and plaed the first few parts with delight. It was a great game from what I played, but I think the timing was bad, as I was distracted by other things at the time, and I didn't have the motivation to pick-up the game from where I left off after a month or two had passed.
The graphics were a strong point, and the controls were quite fluid. I could tell that the story was engaging enough for the average action game, so overall, I was impressed. Perhaps I should pull this one out from the bottom of the pile, blow off the dust and give it another try. After all, this series has become very popular for a reason.
But, meh, I will get around to it eventually.
I have not played Chains of Olympus, but one of my co-workers has it and he says it is just as good as the PS2 installments. Amazing what the power of hand-held gaming systems can do now.
