The Holy Glasses shall allow you to perceive the ''evil'' which is controlling Richter...you can beat him now, but the game will end, and you will miss the second half of it.
To find the glasses, you need the Spike Breaker Armour (To enter the long spike covered corridor in the Cathedral where Maria awaits with the glasses.) which can only be obtained once you find the Bat Echo relic. (The Armour is in the Catacombs, in the dark room all the way on the bottom right of the castle's map.)

Wait, you have not been in the Catacombs yet...
Well, you have been to the underground caverns, yes? There is a place with a wooden bridge and some toads and frogs. Ahead, there will be a Skeleton Ape enemy. (Donkey Kong coming back to life, with a flaming barrel.)
Slowly lure him towards you and the bridge, and when the timing is right, approach it, and it will throw its flaming barrel at you. Evade it, so that it lands on the wooden plank bridge. The following shall explode, revealing a path downwards, to the Catacombs.
To get the Echo of Bat relic, you must first beat Orlox in Orlox's Quarters.
Er, have you been there yet? To go in it, go to the giant clock room, the one where you had first met Maria. Keep randomly going in and out of it until the upper left statue moves on its own, revealing an upwards path. Double jump up there to access Max Shrek's lair.

So far, Castelvania: Lament of Innocence rates a 10.1 on the Moh's Freaking Awesomeness scale (.1 times more freaking awesome than diamond). It's like they took all the best bits of Castlevania 2, Devil May Cry, and Silent Hill, without the limitations of the Game Boy system for Castlevania 2, the slightly askew basis of the DMC story, or the LSD on which the creators of Silent Hill 4 must have been. Second game I've played in this series, and it's turning out to be far greater than expected from C2 (even adjusting for time).

Lament of Innocence is like the black sheep of Castlevania, nobody seems to like it. I completely love it though. However I thought that it was Curse of Darkness that you had?

Lament of Innocence=first PS2 Castlevania, where the other guy's wife died, he quit the army and stays in bed for a year until he tells Leon his girfriend had been kidnapped by the vampire, after which Leon quits the company and goes to find her, since the church wrefused to allow unauthorised combat? And there was the guy who lived outside the castle as a sort of spoiler system for the victims so that the vampire wouldn;t get bored easily, who gave Leon the whip imbued with alchemical power to replace the Company's sword?
That one?
Anyway, I like it. It's better than C2, and far better than most Kill the Vampire/Kill the Vampire Hunter games I've played.

So you DO like it! I was not sure, because nobody likes that one.
Who the hell got Curse of Darkness then? O_o
Ah well who cares. So how far are you now? How much of the castle have you cleared?

I've explored most of the accessible first floor, gotten to the second floor, and I was stuck in the halls to the right and directly below the save point, as the purple MetroidFusion things kept killing me. By careful examination of my strategy, I realised they could be damaged using a big attack, and by luck (whilst noticing an FFX save file, while reorganizing the files on my memorycards), I realised that save points might restore HP. I chewcked, they do, and so I've cleared about... Maybve 10 or 11 rooms on the second floor, possibly more since I don;t recall the map north of the save point.
The one thing I didn;t like about it: the rooms with the parallel bars to cross the pit. GRAH! Spent 40 minutes trying to get across, and that was only because I fell off the edge of the opposite floor after 10 and had to start over.
So, does it get interesting in any ways that won;t spoil the story until I reach the point at which it occurs?

Well, it is a very short game, and the gameplay does not offer much but countless battles and some acrobats (And combos you will never really need. XD)...you think that ledge part was bad, but wait until you get into the theatre...But there are many different enemies which keep it interesting, and a lot of secret areas to be found, although you will really have to search for them.
Unfortunately, the story is pretty absent, as in most Castlevania games. Most of its foredrop is provided by Rinaldo, until you reach the end battles, where all the plot twists are, and a little before.
