Fallout Series - Final Fantasy Net

Again, I'm promoting another awesome RPG series that I love. This time, Fallout. Fallout is a series of Post-Apocalyptic RPG's based on an old Commodore game titled 'Wasteland' which was like a post-nuclear answer to Phantasy Star. I have copies of Fallout and Fallout 2 on my PC and I have to say, the games are just awesome, despite how badly they have aged.

A recurring theme of the series is the nature of human survival in harsh conditions and all the means they can choose to persevere. Also, unlike many open-ended RPGs that lay claim to your actions 'changing the world' Fallout is one of the few series that DELIVER. Just in Fallout 1, you can make choices that could make paradise for masses of NPC people, or choices that kill them all off en masse.

Fallout is all about, 'if your character can do it, YOU can do it'. As developing your character's stats unlock many features of the game as you play. This is a truly unique RPG series. And I'm looking forward to Fallout 3, set for release this fall for PC/PS3/Xbox 360 after 10 years of delay.

Some time ago I finished Fallout Tactics. The game is realy nice and it makes you think tacticaly, when Third World War was finished and the whole land is one big desert...

Yeah, that's the basic setting... Though the Fallout games (besides 3) take place around California or Nevada, so I don't think WW3 made much difference TBQH. xD Also, Tactics is actually non-canon to the story of the other games.

What I like in this game that is an ability to stay in an area after the end of mission. I found many secrets which helped me to survive in future battles. I also was surprised by list of meelee weapons. I was expecting all that lazers, rockets. But that was realy cool. My favourite skill is fighting without any weapon.

The game totaly rocks!

I'm currently trying to get into the second one but am finding the will the proceeded quite hard, I'm not a big fan of the control scheme at all, but that complaint aside I'm interested to see just how open ended the game really is. I've heard great things.

Oh, and never play Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel (PS2), just...don't. Please.
