Wild Arms.
A series which I have loved for years, due to its pig headed intent on always sticking to the same overdone but fun formula. Find a bunch of crap, I always love that. These games are all about finding all sorts of neat things. It drives pretty much on puzzles, it has world maps and dungeons which are nearly action oriented, especially in the last games, simple battle systems, but they become quite fun after you raise your ''Force Points'' and break the 9999 HP limits...
You upgrade your weapons and special skills in the craziest of ways, obtain countless automatic effect add ons, you may even name your magic spells. I always have so much fun with that. My Revive spell is called ''Coffin Dodging!'' XD
The stories are ALWAYS the same, having your band of adventurers become chosen ones to save a world named Filgaia from invading demons from long ago...
But you would be surprised just how much detail they put into such a simple concept.
Most RPG fans agree that this series is completely broken, way too slow paced, always the same damn thing and needs a complete battle overhaul.
Yet, all those people that whine about it still play it. Because it is fun, and if you want a long role playing game with about a bazillion things to do and find and over a million optional guardians which put the FF weapons to shame to fight, these games are easily worth the twenty dollars they go for now. That, despite the storylines being laid on just so thick you might almost get sick...however, so much attention is paid to detail and the construction of the plot, you cannot help but enjoy it.
The western flair and bright colours and cheery girls that cannot cook are not my thing at all, but somehow I enjoy Wild Arms so much.
They all have their problems, but make up for it with the unique Wild Arms style it has that no other game can match-if they even wanted to try.
You either hate it, or you love it, it just cannot go any other way. There is simply too much about these games for me to mention everything in one post.
Opinions?
