I Just Realized That...
...approxamitely ten years ago, I purchased a copy of Castlevania Symphony of the Night. A used copy, for fifty dollars. I had seen it for the first time in an anime convention I had went to, then decided I so wanted it, but I could not find it anywhere.
I was back living with my father then, and got a weekend job at a Jamaican restaurant.
So when I got my first pay, I went to the video game store (Microplay) and saw the game there...I bought it, along with a Final Fantasy Tactics strategy guide for some reason.
So, it seems that Symphony of the Night has been my favourite video game ever for the past ten years, as to this day, I still play it.
When I first got it, I remember playing it half an hour before having to go to work on Friday night. But I was having so much fun that...I went to the restaurant which was located about five minutes from where I lived, told them I quit, and went back home to play Castlevania. XD
When I moved from Manitoba to here, it was one of the few games that I took along with me. Everything else I left behind. It feels like a long time friend. XD
So to celebrate my ten year near like obsessive fanhood, I uh...hmm.
Oh and, general Castlevania series discussion thread this is. Any game in the series.
Because like, there was not one yet.

Congratulations! Wow must have been a good game that you quit your job.
The thing i hate about hanging around forums i hear about all these great games, Castlevania, Xenosaga, Star Ocean and many more yet none of them are purchasable in the game shops where i live. *sigh*

I hope we get this swapshop thing going then-you have a lot of games you need to play.
I am quite willing to introduce you to games like Xenosaga and Star Ocean, but you can all look elsewhere for Symphony of the Night, I am NOT lending that to ANYONE. Even if I own the PSP remake of it in Dracula X Chronicles. XD
And yes, the game is SOOO fun. It is too easy now, but I still enjoy amassing every single item all the time, messing with the percentage glitch and the atmosphere has not failed me, ever. I would recommend it to anyone.

I know this is one of the reasons i am eager to see this swapshop up and running, the game shops in Scotland suck beyond belief. For some reason they are very short of alot of the RPGS i've been recommended by so many people.
Also it give the forum a new "life" its something very big that will affect the forum and keep the place going.
As for the game itself, i have a feeling it has something to do with vampires which just makes me want to play it more, am i right in saying this?

Indeed, the entire series revolves around the concept of entering Dracula's castle as a vampire hunter, and destroying Dracula. (Although much of the later titles are somewhat different, some of them no longer having Dracula in them at all.)
But in Symphony, the player controls Dracula's son, who is a dampyl, half human, half vampire, bent on destroying his own bloodline forever.
Ayami Kojima did the artwork for this game as well as many other Castlevania titles, and with her influence from the film Dracula Love Never Dies, she so completely captured the essence of the series. This game is so perfect, in my opinion, in everything.
So yes, you get all these specific vampire abilities, and are proficient with over one hundred different weapons, so it makes the fighting different and fun.
I did not know this site was seeing a face lift though. I thought Alex pretty much abandoned it or forgot about it or something?

I've never played a game where i've been able to control a vampire which is a shame, i've had to make do with slaying them in awful games like Buffy the vampire slayer and a game called Drucula which i have for the PC which isn't bad.
Alex like most people has just been busy with life, but i don't think it was never in his intentions for him to abandon this site, i always knew he would make a return.

LOL, right on sister!
I remember playing Super Castlevania for the Super NES for hours and hours with my best friend when we were in elementary school. It was so much fun and a welcome change from the usual RPGs we usually ALWAYS played (such as the FF titles). We used to have sleep-overs and just play it all nite, and our brains would get so into it that we'd start to freak each other out just for fun.
Oh, and Tidus, you mentioned Xenosaga... is this game amongst the series that Xenogears is in? Because I've always wanted to play this one. Maybe if someone has this game I can swap it when things get going.

Allow me to elaborate the existence of the Xenosaga series...it is a trilogy now, however it was meant to have six titles. These games were actually meant to completely clarify all the intricacies of Xenogears-there were meant to be some sort of -the deleted scenes- or -the expansion- of Xenogears. It was meant to simplify everything that had confused us in Xenogears...
However it failed miserably, and confused the players even more. Xenosaga does have plot synopsises on the Internet, the story is not nonsensical, however its execution at telling a plot was done in the most wrongest methods I can possibly think of.
I SAY it makes sense, as it does apparently, but while playing, I did not grasp a thing...the collective subconscious of mankind has taken physical manifestation, it is called Voodoo and it eats planets and,...well, I have no idea.
This does not mean that they are not fun games, but do not think you will understand anything pertaining to Xenogears that it was meant to clarify-especially not when it introduces all new characters and elements.

They have made ports of Dracula Last Sanctuary and Resurrection for the PlayStation which I own. Would have been nice to have the entire trilogy, but right...those games are fine, although I am not much for point and click puzzle solving games. I got them merely because I love most of anything that has to do with Dracula, and although the gameplay did not make me jump for joy, I loved the ambiance. These games closely followed the older variations of Dracula through all entertainment mediums such as novels and films, and this I much appreciated. They sure gave Mina these huge hooters though. :O

Aaaw, this sounds like grand times! Playing creepy vampire games all night long. *Raises fist!*
Super Castlevania IV. I have spent much time playing this one as well, although it was one of the games I had left behind.
Also, I am ashamed to say that I could never pass the Clocktower stage...

Ahh, I remember Buffy. It is still going on TV in Ukrain. But it is kinda boring for me now.

Again two games i have never heard of, and if they were in the shops over here i would already have them. Even though i do like point and click games it would have been because it has to do with Dracula that would have made me buy them.
As for Buffy i prefered Angel which had better stories i thought. The Buffy the vampire slayer game which my brother bought and i played through once was awefull.
