Overated Games. - Final Fantasy Net

In the history of gaming, many products were presented to the masses through means other than quality and entertainment to advertise them...

As EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) seems to have specified, "Killer Instinct" was only awesome if you knew nothing about fighting games, and all the lowlights for the Nintendo 64 console were every game that was not developed by Nintendo.

But there are various reasons that may make a game overrated...the idea here is to nominate whatever game, or game series you personally think is overrated.
The opinion and voice is yours of course. Great graphics do not make a game, rabid fanboys creep you out, whatever.
Past or present, it all works. What games are, and what makes them overrated?

all of the call of duty games. ESPECIALLY modern warfare and modern warfare 2.

They are filled with glitches and shoddy programming, too.

I'm sorry to say, but FF7 is given far more praise than it deserves also.

it's a good game, don't get me wrong, it's just for a lot of people it was their first RPG and they subsequently put it on a pedastal to be compared to all other games.

haven't read this thread, and I know this will have been said, but Modern Warcampers 2. Most disappointing and (initially) overrated game of the decade.

Now Battlefield: Bad Company 2, that is one sweet package of a game. I highly recommend it

World of warcraft. It's not actually that fun, once you've played for a couple of hours and nothing's really new anymore. It's just boring and grindy.

I'd agree on FFVII. I <3 it, but it isn't the god of all games ever made ever. (In fact, I prefer 10 & 10-2 for the battle and individual sphere systems and 8 & 9 for non-essential mini-games.)

FFX-2. There was a lot of hype about it being the sequel to 10 when it came out and really, the only thing I like about that game is the battle/dressphere system. Oh, and sphere break I guess, that can pass time. As an overall game though, not the best thing since sliced bread.
