Default Pick Your Favourite Game And...

...say something bad about it.

Think about your most loved video game, or perhaps there are more then one, and constructively make a list or a short post about what is wrong with it, in respects to what you personally believe as to what constitutes a ''video game''.

Example, Castlevania Symphony of the Night-
It may have many different weapons, many of them with unique abilities, but these remain next to useless, because you get most of these much too late, at a point in the game where you can decimate everything with the X button while watching a film on another television.

The magic spells may be neat, but again, slightly not worth concentrating on when they require such complex button combinations to unleash. What is this, an adventure action game or Street Fighter Alpha 3? XD

See, something like this...it is healthy for everyone to be able to accept that what they praise as grandiose may not always be as perceived by initial awe of presentation. Like discovering that you are not perfect, I believe this to be the Gamer's Zen moment, a road to higher understanding...

Only then, may we answer just what the hell we truly are supposed to do with the sadly overlooked Select button. XD

Whoa!! I'll have to think about this one and come up with something good .........

Right. Final Fantasy X. I LOOOVVEEE this game!!! Shame I have to bring it under the hammer *asks for forgiveness*....

Firstly, the most obvious cock-up was with the voice cast. I've only recently found out that Tidus was played by a guy in his '40s (was he castrated?? *_*), and though I don't mind the whining, since it's characteristic of Tidus, I do think his VA was trying too hard. On the other end of the scale, Yuna's voice was just horribly flat, and fake-sounding. In fact, she sounded like she was on some kind of substance *_* and Wakka's fake Jamaican accent, though endearing, did grate on me a bit. Hard to imagine it's the same guy who plays Bender on Futurama.......

So the acting on it's own was pretty bad, but then what happened to the lip synching?? Yeah I know it was fairly new at the time, but often it seemed like they weren't even trying. Again, Yuna was the worst. It reminded me of some badly dubbed kung-fu show from the '70s..........

The battle system, I loved it so much. But please why is there no pause button?? Just because nothing happens in between gos, doesn't mean your clock should be condemned to tick away whilst you take a nature break. That's been one of my pet hates in FFVII aswell, although it's backwards in that game, you can only pause in a battle >.<

The way Tidus runs on the field.....scary!!

This game has to have one of the best scores in gaming history.....so why the ripping?!?!? We all know the Shoopuf/Moonflow music is actually Red XIII's theme, why why why?????

Um, I'll think of more later.....

Wow, great post, ML.

Are you serious?

WHAT??

One learns something every day...I completely loved Wakka's accent, but I must agree, it might have been pushed somewhat. It was only there to give him more personality.
And again, everything you said about Yuna's voice, I must agree. It is extremely monotonous and ''dron-y''. Well, perhaps her fate depresses her...I know it would me.

Ha ha! XD

I only really noticed that when they had to rework the dialogue from the script so as to avoid having to say the main characxter's name. But that may have just been me.

Well, since FFX has already been done, I suppose I shall go for FFIIIDS and KH2.

KH2; Completely and utterly ruined gummi ship travel, as well as the gummi garage system. I loved building and designing all tyhe different ships in the first one, and the second game was nowhre near as good a system. As ore the gummi mode, it was cool not having to go through the battles every single time you want to change worlds, but seriously, too freaking far, I liked those battles. As to the story, most of it was t least okay (I really liked most of the story, but that's not the point of this). It just seemed like half the game was based on a bad slashfic with the NC-17 bits cut out. It could've easily been more heartwarming without all of the "Roxas, I miss the old you..." "Roxas, come back!" "Riku, it's really you, oh, Riku, I missed you so!" (only the last is even slightly exaggerated, and not by much anyway. I think all I did was omit a word.)

FFIIIDS: The battle system could've been less... Erm, no... The story... Yes, the story! Each of their characters got their own little side story for introducing a love interest, in an effort to increase the characterization, as oppsed to FFIIIFamicom, with the four onion knights. Four main characters and five love stories (including Desch, who actually was pretty cool). It should have been Desch/coma girl, Ingus/the princess, and [i]possibly[/] one other, maybe mtoned down the Aria/luneth thing. (though that was actually, the first time I even teared up since the LH ending scene). And the sidequest system? Most people who play RPGs obsessively enough to even bother with such complicated sidequests are complete introverts, so they's probably end up buying another DS and FFIII cartridge like people often did with the old pokemon games, and even if a player did have friends, that wouldn't mean they had a way to access Wi-Fi, even a t Mcdonald's (stupid security lock wouldn;t allow NDS frequencies in the one at my homketown, only laptops), so you would have no way to complete the quests for the onmuion knight jobs! Also, the endgame, it needed save points. Like the pools in the ZTower in FFLegend. Too maze-like to complete in one runthrough, and it gewts blorin when you have to return to the inentrance to save so you don;t lose the weapons and items you fgound.

Well, that's my rant for this thread.

Edit: I timed out of the forum.

Hmm, tough question to answer. I can only think of one video game in which I don't have a single complaint. It is perfect in every way, and that would be Super Mario Brothers 3. So I suppose that also makes it my favorite video game ever.

But that is the problem. I don’t have a single complaint about this game. There is nothing wrong with it, and I will duel to the death anyone who says likewise. *unsheathes sword*

*busts a gut laughing* What a great account of Final Fantasy X. I would agree with all of those things you said about it.

Haha, Bender!

Yeah, the voice acting didn't really interest me very much in this game, Tidus and Yuna were both so whiny. You are so right. This whole game actually had lots of really weird things going on... what was with that stripper scene with Rikku by the water? Huh! LOL

I think since it was on a new platform they were probably trying lots of new stuff simply because they could. Trial and error I suppose, but it made way for lesson learned, and we soon got better games. So... *pats Final Fantasy X on the shoulders*

It’s never been one of my favorites and I’ve never been sure why. Still… I’ve played through it at least three or four times, and I always have fun. And I’m sure I’ll play it again one day. So there has to be something there that's entertaining me.

I also hated how easy they made the final boss. The supposed “puppet master” of SIN did seem like kind of a push-over. I knew this one would be your favorite Miss Lockheart.

*offers a “Death to the Select Button” badge!*

I am not afraid of your sword!

...but actually, although not my favourite, there really is nothing wrong at all with SMB3 that I can find. Well...Only ONE Tanooki suit? come on, more would have been nice.

That is all I have. XD

I've not played any of those games JET...but what you are saying of the final dungeon in FFIIIDS does sound rather tedious. Do you get a save point SOMEtime before the guardian, at least?

You are trying to trick me aren't you? Surely you are trying to lure me into revealing myself as a fraud SMB3 expert. There are many Tanooki Suits. After a brief introduction to them in a level in World 4, Land of the Giant Goombas and Koompas, you are soon able to get them from White Mushroom Houses in World 5 onwards. It was a great suit, and I loved how you could use it to turn into a statue. The Tankooki suit was also one of the only ways to kill certain monsters like Lava Lotus', Thwomps, and Flamethrowers on the airships. Not to mentioned those damned Bo Diddleys and Roto Disks.

I believe what you probaby meant to imply was that there is only one Kuribo's Shoe, and it is found on Level 3 of World 5, Sky World. It is said to be a gift from the King of the Mushroom Kingdom, it is a giant green shoe that Mario can jump into and squish monsters and do super jumps. He is also able to walk over deadly Pirahna Plants. But I actually like that there is only one of these in the game, I think it adds to the magic of it. By the time you find it you are half way to Bowser's Castle and they still find some way to surprise us. So i think the genuine magic of only being in only one level is actually a bonus for the game. It's something to look forward to.

Yeah, I remember when parents were buying their kids both Pokemon games and two systems just so their kids wouldn't have to play with other kids to get all the animals via the WiFi. Haha, now that's just lame. *shakes fist at parents*

A what? I thought the boot was the Tanooki suit. I always thought the statue one was a Shepperd suit. Ah well, I do not know. But I enjoyed that boot. Not because it made everything easy, but because it was fun to use. But always using it on the one level?
And no, am not trying to reveal you a false expert...you know all those names, you should be ashamed!!

Joking.

Wow, I have no idea if this is SPAM or not, but it is certainly written with passion. LOL
