Most likely, ghosts are not real...or if they are, they must not be like what we hear in stories and the like...
But still, very real things call the darkness their home.

Ghosts are traped between this world and the next. Either their jealosy over the living is what's keeping them here, they don't know they are died, or they are afraid as to what will become of them after they "cross over" so they stay on earth to stay close to the ones they love.

There is a difference between ghosts and spirits. I don't believe in ghosts, but spirits. Ghosts were created as a soul to haunt and wander earth. A spirit is the soul that leaves the body after someone dies
