Emo's, what do people have against them?

The whole thing with Emos as Goths actually does show their craving for attention. I'm not saying that it is the same for genuine Goths, but there mentality is that if they look dark and forlorn then people will think they're cool and must have had a difficult life. Once people try to talk to them, they just ignore so as to provoke them with more mystery and all that jazz. I don't buy it

Yeah I like the emo music genre and listen to it a lot too. I really love the music and I think Emo is around because some people are able to relate to it. I mean it's like a double edged knife. It gives people a taste that they are not the only the only ones who feel that way and give them a reason to feel better. Others take it the opposite way and take it as a point where they cut themselves or commit suicide. I not a supporter of the emo's that are just attention seekers and cut their wrists to get attention but there are people that are truly depressed and need help. I mean just a few months ago I had someone tell me that a girl at my school cut her wrist becuz she was supposedly depressed cuz her friends turned on her but it turns out she never even attempted doing it and all she wanted was attention. Everyone goes through a time where things are not going so well and you are often down. I think that some people have to understand that and shouldn't hate people that are usually sad becuz it's probably a phase at the time. I bet over half the emo population are teenagers and most of them grow out of it. In my opinion, I think the preppy people are the reasons why we have emo people cuz I think that if they didn't have to put people down so much we wouldn't have all these cases of depression or suicide. If we just left people alone and respected them for who they were, who knows? Maybe emo's wouldn't exist?

I hate how everyone turning goth/emo. You can tell there are a very choice few that are authentic while the rest are just trying to follow a fad to be popular

but it isnt all of the music that we/they listen to.... that actually defines them as Goths there is supossed to be a little history behind it; It was some cult... its used as a type of dress sense...and a strong religous link also backs it up oh and it was used to descibe Vampires....and all the rest bla bla bla and the emo side...well i dont have a clue...
also there is apparently a fine line between the definition between emo and goth (so i found out 2day)emo's are all about the music and goths are about the religous side wiv averythin mixed in.....

to be honest i dont realy care wat a person is as long as there willing to put up wiv me then it's all a ok....

So in other words you respect outcasts? I know what you're saying, people who think they're all that just because they belong to some special little clique. Makes me sick

Not just outcasts. Anyone who will accept people for who they are. I don't care about anyones problem and I don't tell them about mine. I like people whoi just get along with out complaining about anything. Some may be popular, some may be outcasts. If they're willing to accept others for who they are I don't hate them.

Most likely the populars don't do that. Even if I do hang out with some of them, I prefer my true friends any day
