A brush with the supernatural

I mentioned something that happened over in the Wishing Well of Doom thread, and decided to post here so I could hear about things that happened with you all, too.

So, what happened was, a couple/few years back, I was reading in the furnished half-basement. I got into that kind of dazed, trance-like sort of mindset, where you can spend a half hour trying to read two or three sentences over and over, when all of a sudden I snapped out of it and decided to look up (like I usualy do to clear my head). A humanoid, about 1.8 or 2 meters tall, in a dark purple cloak, walked through the door to the boiler and furnace room. Through the door, not the doorway. It was completely coveredby the cloak, the lower half of its face completely shadowed by the hood. It seemed to suddenly notice me, looked over and waved a hand in a guesture seeming to be of surprise, and suddenly hadn;t been there. Felt like it wasn;t a threat or an enemy, but that I ought to dislike it anyway. I snapped out of it (the confusion, the trance thing seemed over earlier), went upstairs to mention what happened to my mom, and several times over the next couple of days and months asked her about it to make sure I hadn;t dreamed the entire day.
Never figured out what it was, a ghost expert in Eureka Springs from easter break last year said it could have been someone trying to preform some rite, my dad figured it could've been a walkthrough by a world traveller with a confusion/repusion spell, (alternate dimensions sort of thing), and I recently formed the theory that it was a premonition, because for one, the half-basement has three feet of it underground, and I tend to have premonitions (generally vague, or simply knowing things ahead of time, as well as severe deja vu for the latter) but not be very strongly affected by ghost hotspots or really see ghosts much at all. I made a detailed account, describing what happened and what the apparition was like, but I lost the paper (can remember it pretty well, though, except whether its hand, where it was not covered by the cloak, was skeletal, really pale, or seemingly inhuman).

If anyone has any theories, or would like to share their own experiences, I would really appreciate that. It weould be cool to hear what unusual things have happened to you all.

I'm already tired to be surprisedby this situations. I realy believe it. I heard lot's of stories and I have som experience of my own.

My theory is:
Spirits can exist in many forms. Sometimes even in such forms which can be seen by people.The sence of what they try to tell us is completely not found. Every such situation is quite unike so it is hard to find a conection between them. But sometimes they are very unpleasant to living inhabitants of Earth. Such "meetings" with spiris ended with harms, psihical damage or even death of people (in case of death it is often equaled to selfkill)

Hmmm, since you were lucid when you saw it, whatever the apparition was, it must have presented itself in that way on purpose to get your attention. If you say there's not usually many ghosts around, then it probably wasn't in its actual form, but instead trying to get your attention by looking the way it did, if that makes sense.

I think I was pretty receptive as a child, I had a ghost friend in the first house I lived in. I called her Mrs. Landers and often saw her in the kitchen, around the area where the cooker was. You see, when I was really small, I had no worries, everything was ok in my life, and so I could quite happily communicate with this ghost, I have fond memories of it. But as I got older, I started to be bullied more by my cousins, and with my parents getting divorced and my dad being an alcoholic and getting his MS diagnosis, little by little I just stopped being receptive, and soon the only way I knew she was around was by the stereo changing volume without anyone touching it, or certain sounds. And shortly after moving house for the first time, her presence just diminished and was gone altogether by the time we moved house again. I've always felt really sad about it, nowadays I can barely sense anything, as my mind is just too clouded to be open to things around me. It's not lack of belief, it's lack of clarity. I hope one day I can start taking that clarity back as things improve in my life, and I get some time to practise meditating and open myself up. Now's not a very good time because I have Jonny to think about and a new career to concentrate on.

But I very much believe in ghosts as a manifestation of energies around us that science can't yet perceive. Even from a logical "physics" point of view it makes sense- we know gravity exists, but can we see it? Same with biological energy, which makes us exist on the most basic level.

But this is not a limit, cause there always exists something thet we don't know.
