1.Sephiroth (he was just so evil and minted god i'm talkin chav again!)
2.Cloud (utterley kewl i loved the strong unsainless about him)
3.Aerith (so sweetly harmless and pure)
4.Zell (hilariously funny temper lol)
5.Cid Highwind
6.kimahri
7.Squall (i thought he was a kind of copy of cloud with the kepin self to self thing)
8.Riona (i liked her spunky sort of attitude)

Red XIII was my fav and after seven you don't have very many animal companions in the rest of the ffs except for the half human half bunny for 12 and Khimari from 10

For me the list would have to be:
1. Squall. His silent-grumpiness was just... great.
2. Auron. His to-the-point silent grumpiness was just... great.
3. Cloud. Punk. Kinda to-the-point grumpiness in the beginning.
4. Sephiroth. A little wordy sometimes, but he's cool nonetheless.
5. Rinoa. My favorite "final fantasy chick".
Those are my top 5 if you twisted my arm and made me pick.

1. Cid from X(2)- I guess it's his baldness...
2. Beatrix- she was a strong woman
3. Zidane- it was my first FF, so I clung to the characters in IX
4. Hypellos- Its the way they talk
5. Auron- What can I say.... He's strong and sexy
