Chronology/timeline vs. order of games
I just realized, FFVII has to come after FFX because the Materia in VII hold the secrets and powers of the Ancients, but in X, they still know about who the people who sacrificed their lives to become Aeons are (some of which are in Summon Materia in FFVII). Does this mean that Spira was long before the time of ...The FFVIII world? (What IS its name? Midgar's just the city you start in, and that's what some people call it). Tell me your opinions on this, and also if you see anywhere else that the order of the games is different from the timeline (urgh. I hate using the word "timeline" when referring to series of video games. That's why I said "Chronology").

WoL is correct, the games take place on completely different worlds, and thus their chronology is not linked seamlessly. One could debate the various levels of civilization in the different FF's, but not whether one FF takes place before/after another.

The only ecxeption would be Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Advance and Final Fantasy XII, which all happen in Ivalice.
None of the plots are related, however there is said to be a timeline linking all three together.
In Final Fantasy XII, you will see many beings from the first Tactics coming as summons; such as the final boss in FFT.
I guess it must mean it is the first story of Ivalice?
I have no idea, but I have been told they are indeed part of a timeline.
Then again, in FFTA, it is some children being taken to the world of Ivalice...nothing is said of their real world..so it does not tell us much..well, maybe it does, I never did finish it.

Oh, okay. I didn't know they were supposed to be completely different worlds, I thought it was the same world, or at least universe/dimension/whatever, but sufficiently advanced that the worlds are not usually recognizable. I must have been thinking of a different series.
