well yuffie and vincent were secret characters and you didn't have to get them.
VII was good, but nothing more then a rip off of VI. You got a girl with special powers who an evil orginization is after. There's also another guy who's kinda with this orginization, but not really. So this guy ends up killing the big guy in the orginization thing and goes crazy and tries to take over the world. The main guy character also has 2 love intrests that include the girl with special powers.(Cloud with Tifa and Aerith and Locke with Celes and Terra) so then our hero's have to go kill this evil guy and save the earth, they suceede and escape before the whole dungeon collapses.
I also hated how people got so sad when Aerith died. She wasn't the first FF party member character to die. An example is II, alot of party members died trying to save you. 4 also, most of the characters nearly died or did for awhile and then came back. It really pisses me off.

The difference was in the level of character development. Many had a strong attachment to Aeris because she was more tangible. While FFIV is a God in its own right, it did lack in any strong character development (who shed a tear when Anna died, for instance?) Aeris' death was especially wrecking if you had been using her in your party the whole time, as there were many cutscenes/sequences that you wouldn't normally have.

But it's just a character, it's not like there real, you shouldn't have any emotional attatchment to a bunch of pixels. I actually got pretty sad when anna died. She had attatchments to two of the main characters in the game. Though I love VII it was overrated, you can't beat the old final fantasy's.

And you never got attached to a character when watching a movie or *gasp* reading a book? Part of the reason that literature, movies, tv shows grasp our attention is because they are able to connect with us via the characters. Even if a character isn't real, they demonstrate reality to us via our imagination. The depth that the characters portray has grown larger in the later Final Fantasies, which is why I said what I did.

This game captured my interest straight at the beginning with the whole Train coming into the station. It wasn't Cloud that got my attention it was The Turks and of course the very whisper of Sephiroth. It took me a year to beat this game due to my being in school and I had to focus on school work instead of play. The whole 3D could have been better but it was the beginning of the Playstation game console. The storyline is amazing with the whole story of Sephiroth, SOLDIER, Mako, Weapons, Materia....gosh all of it just rocks. The movie scenarios were totally awesome but I wish they had more. Personally, I thought the womens roles was very Weak. Tifa was an okay character but was in desperate need to be loved. Aerith immediately fell for Cloud the moment he helped her out. Yuffie....well...she was just a sneaky thief. All three of them were really annoying...well at least I thought they were. Anyway, the only thing I didn't care for was the way the materia was. You see my thing is once you've learned the spell then you should have been able to select another materia but Still have the spell in your list. Does anyone know if they are going to re-make it with todays upgrades??

God, I wish they would.
I absolutely loved this game! I grew up with it and I've had a closeness for it ever since. It touched me more than any other video game of that era.
OMG...it almost sounds like I have a relatonship with it or something...

*Argo stands up and walks to the front of the room*
"Hello, Im Mr. Argo Xavier...and im gonna go ahead and tell you why some people, including myself, dont like Final Fantasy VII...
Because its the worst game of the Final Fantasy franchise...here are some reasons why:
1) Very crapy character devlopment...might as well have had richard simmons as the lead character...
2) Very unoriginal storyline...i knew what was gonna happen about 6 hours before it auctally did...just like a really bad movie...
3) Hidden characters....no new age rpg should have hidden characters...it messes with the storyline of the game and made my game experience worse then it already was
4) The ending sucked....didnt do a good job explaining anything...
And that is why some people may not like Final Fantasy VII...thanks for your time and i will answer any questions you may have after the meeting, thank you and enjoy the rest of the show"

I grew up with this game ( got it when I was seven) and it still remains my favourite final fantasy simply due to its superior storyline.
And I have noticed similarities in the FF games also, I think FFIX stole some plot pieces from FFVI
