Well good for you my young friend, let us all know how it turns out. Good luck.

I have upgraded my bangles; I’ll leave The Carbon Bangle Challenge for another day, heh. The only parts of the challenge I am attempting involve keeping the player’s original weapons and fixing my materia in place (with a few minor adjustments when necessary). So bangles, like accessories, are definitely played around with. But this is only because you simply must… otherwise you would not have enough materia slots to have all the magic leveled up when required (unless you wanted to level up for a year straight, and even I wouldn’t do that). Spells like Esuna, DeBarrier and Stop for absolutely invaluable in later parts of the game and it takes a long time and a lot of AP to get these.

And Accessories simply must be updated, as Cloud, Barret and Tifa all don’t even start with one anyways, so I see no problem in accessorizing the Accessories, LOL.

But I suppose it is likely possible to keep the characters with the original armor as well till the end game, but this would definitely be one hell of a super challenge. I’ll stick with what I’m doin’.

So far, teh"superchallenge" is working, although I'm exp-grinding like crazy, and even at maximum level it'll probably need some materia bonuses to beat the edgame, and especially the weapons. No way I would try it with basic materia, even counting the Restore materia from Reactor #1.

I'm gonna try a similar challenge for FF8 now.

Rules for the gunblade challenge:

No upgrading weapons
No teaching summons new junctions (so you can only use the junction abilities they start with)

Seem fair?

Ha ha, I like this idea. But this might actually be pretty hard, as not teaching your GF's anything leaves you with the minimum near the end, which everyone usually breezed through otherwise. This should be neat, will you let us know how this goes?

It has been a while since I played VIII, but the next time I do I will definately try this version of the game.

Do we have an update SoS?

Hey folks!

alright I don't have internet in my new student house (yet) so i'm doing this from the library.

In terms of how the Gunblade challenge is going....

Well I've reached my peak it seems. I just can't get any farther. I'm stuck at the fight with Abaddon.

BUT I WILL PERSEVERE!!

You can finish this game! Don't give up, and most importantly, don't forget to level! Go, Sephiroth!
