Zack *possible spoiler* - Final Fantasy Net

Ok, been a while since I played the game but been having a chat with a friend and we weren't sure as to the role of Zack and Cloud.
If I remember, Cloud was just a foot soldier, when Zack died on a mission with Sephiroth Cloud assumed his identity. Is that right? Who were Cloud's parents? Did he grow up with Tifa etc or was he grown in the reactor?

I can't remember for the life of me!!

Any ideas?

Cloud was a failed sephiroth clone.

Yes, I know that much but when did he turn up at Tifa's town? Who was Zack and what was his role?

zack was the star of the hit television series:'saved by the bell'. hence, if you have a question as to: "who is screech," the same as above, that shall be the answer i point to.

I thought cloud was born tifas town but joined soldier and he underwent the changes in soldier to sepiroth clone

Cloud didn't turn up to Nibleheim in their childhood. He wasn't even made then.
The memories of Cloud were actually from Zack. What Zack told him. When he went crazy he convinced himself he was Zack and all those memories were his. Tifa let him believe that, for some unknown reason.
When Nibleheim was burned down, Zack was the Soldier 1st Class. Everything that happened in Cloud's "Flashback" is what happened to Zack. When they're in the lifestram, in Mideel, it shows you what really happened.
It never properly explains all of it; It tells you and expects you to understand.
