Final Attack Materia - Final Fantasy Net

I'm getting a headache with FFVII (I will get round to FFVIII later I promise!!), I have been in the Battle Square trying to get the Final Attack materia. I got the Omnislash and the W. Summon materia, and from what I've seen on various guides some sort of special battle is supposed to be unlocked. However I got nothing, just the usual battles.

I do have Ultima Weapon already, so that's not an issue. What's going on???

Final Attack Materia:
The Final Attack Materia is located at the Battle Square. First of all, you must buy all of the Items at the Battle Square. Then, you need to have atleast 60,000 BP. If you meet these 2 requirements, then you can fight in the Special Arena, too. You must defeat all monsters in the Special Arena. When you have completely gone through the Special Arena, then as a Prize when you return to the Battle Square, you will recieve the Final Attack Materia.

I hope so. I want to kick Emerald Weapon's ass! It's frustrating that there's not more specific info on getting this materia on the web, every other materia seems to get quite a good set of directions. Looks like I'm gonna be in the Battle Arena for quite some time then!!

Btw great to see you around, I don't know you too well but I'm glad to see more members becoming more active. Keep it up dude!

What I usually do to make the Battle Arena go faster is specialize a strong character. Obviously I usually use Cloud. First I equip him with the Ribbon to nullify any possible status ailments which might pop up in the battle. Then I equip him with the Counter Attack Materia and Strength+ Materia. Then I also equip him with Haste Materia to really speed up the battles. Then I just go-go-go and hack away until everything is dead. It's usually pretty effective lol.

Yeah I do the same thing. It's strange because with Cloud you can get up to 11,000 battle points each time you complete a set of 8 monsters, but you only get something like 3,500 when you use another character, I don't get it!!

Hmm, I didn't realize that was the case.

I think the battle points depend on what your handicap total is on the slots by the end of the eight battles. (and of course how many rounds you successfully last before giving up) The worse the handicaps = the better the battle points if winning. I learned this rule pretty quick when I one time managed to get eight in a row of "No Change" and I ended up with something like 10 battle points, LOL. Perhaps you have just had less catastrophic handicaps when doing the battle arena with other characters.

I never thought about it up until reading your last post Miss Lockheart, but I don't think I've ever been in the battle arena with anyone other than Cloud. hahaha, I should try that sometime.

I used Cid and Yuffie there. Cid was awesome with Venus Gospel and Yuffie is surprisingly powerful when you get going with her! You're right though, I don't think I had that tough a time with the handicapps

I thought about putting Vincent in there to see what happens, but to be honest I've been disappointed with him. Until lvl 60, he was lagging behind Yuffie ie. nearly all of my game!! Even though I tried to give him the majority of the kill count, Death Penalty was still quite poor. He just has no power to his attacks!! I ended up using him just as an extra magic user. As much as I adore him, I don't think he'd be a good candidate for the battle arena lol!!
