Spambots gone forever
Maybe someone can alter the registration page in such a way that spambots can never complete the signup. You can make the registration now require both image verification, as well as answering a simple question(for example: Are you human). And you can make the latter have questions unique to FFNET so no bot will be able to register. This has worked on other sites and can work on this one to.

This'd require one of us know the vBulletin registration code. Personally, I don't have the time to learn their (most likely) spaghetti code process for registration. There are some other methods that could be more effective which we haven't yet implemented, such as requiring email validation. We will continue working to keep the forum as clean as possible.

That kinda rules me out, i dont have a valid email address...yet.
Mabee you can make it so that existing users dont have to submit a valid address. (spammers not counting)

The option is subject to administrative override. Registered users awaiting authentication can still send PM's. Um... still though... not having a valid email address is just stupid. Sign up for Yahoo, MSN, or GMail.

I have enabled Email Verification. If you or anybody you know tries to register and it does not work, please let me know immediately. This SHOULD (hopefully) get rid of the spambots. If we ever get around to upgrading to VBulletin 3.6.x, we can increase the randomness on the Image Verification images, and improve our security even further.
Thanks for your patience.

The image verification codes work the best, I would say try and go with that, you could probably find the code somewhere online

The problem isn't that. vBulletin has built in Image Verification things, but version 3.5.x doesn't have support for garbling up the text in random ways as much as 3.6.x does. We currently use Image Verification, but the spambots can currently read the text correctly using some pretty cool OCR techniques. Currently the Email-Registration system seems to be holding them at bay. (No spams in a few days so far.)
